In 2019, Memphis FilmWorks was the recipient of the Kresge Improvement Project to pilot a docuseries highlighting the shared story experiences of 300 families and residents living in the Midsouth.
In 2020, Memphis FilmWorks was awarded grant support to design, develop and publish an anthology book series entitled ‘Our Neighbors, Our Stories: In Search of Common Ground.’
In 2021, The City Council awarded Memphis FilmWorks a grant to work with educational institutions in underserved memphis communities to build a history ambassador program Fellowship inviting spoken word artists and high schools students to learn about and construct an African American video repository of well known African American leaders who have been intergalactic in shaping the 200 year history of Memphis and Shelby County.
